Greg Payne

Greg is a Chartered Engineer and Energy Modeller, who started his career in the Energy Industry in 2003. He specialised as an Energy Modeller and has worked in fields including energy storage modelling, energy trading, EV portfolio modelling, EV chargepoint demand and location forecasting, flexibility markets and business games.

Greg joined Cenex in 2018 and is currently the Principal Technical Specialist for Modelling and Analysis. He continues to further Cenex’s modelling capabilities, developing and using models to provide actionable insights for challenges in the zero-carbon transition. As an expert in V2G, he led Cenex’s contribution to the Sciurus project, the world’s largest domestic V2G trial, providing evidenced based modelling on V2G economics, and co-authored the book “An Introduction to Vehicle-to-Grid”. More recently he led the development and delivery of a comprehensive national assessment for the Luxembourg government, evaluating the role of electric vehicle chargepoints in enhancing energy system flexibility and renewable energy integration under EU regulatory frameworks.
