Interview with Envevo Representative
How has Envevo grown in the last year?
Over the past year Envevo has doubled in size adding around 70 people to its head count and expanding its client base. We have opened new offices to increase our geographical reach and better support its clients in all parts of the UK. We have also launched some additional services to our turnkey offering including, architectural support, planning consents, GPR surveys, hardware selection, further commissioning of chargers and maintenance of those chargers. We have also started to develop new areas of charging like Truck Charging Hubs with provision for MCS charging and in some cases future provision of hydrogen. In the last twelve months we have designed and built more bus depots, again building on expanding turnkey offering.
How will the ICE vehicle ban delay affect both the rollout of public charging and Envevo itself?
We don’t believe it will have any immediate impact. Our clients have put in place long term plans and as it stands we have not had any feedback relating to a slowdown of their roll outs. It’s important to note that car manufacturers in the UK will still be mandated to sell electric vehicles from 1 January or face fines. More than 20% of each manufacturer’s new cars sold in 2024 must be zero-emission or they will potentially face fines of £15,000 per vehicle. This rises incrementally up to 80% in 2030 with the total ban on hybrid cars still being 2035.
What does the future hold for Envevo?
Our focus is fully on supporting our clients’ EV roll out by looking to continually improve and expand our service offering, ensuring we provide a best in class delivery model that meets our clients requirements. We continue to look at new markets within the EV space to ensure that company continues to grow with the accelerated roll out of the EV changing network in the UK.
Is there anything else that you’d like to add?
We will have some further exciting news on the direction and growth of Envevo for early in 2024 which will see our growth match the ambitious rollout of our clients in the coming years. According to Envevo’s own recent market research, we will be approaching 14 million EVs on the UK Roads supported by over 800,000 workplace chargers 500,000 on street and destination chargers with 50,000 on-the-go chargers on the network by 2030 and it is our aim to have Envevo ready to fully support the design and build for our clients across the UK.
