Associate Director of Research Research Institute for Disabled Consumers (RiDC)

Indigo is a disabled researcher and specialist in accessible transport research, with eight years of experience working in disability rights research. In their role as Associate Director of Research at the Research Institute for Disabled Consumers, they are a project lead at the National Centre for Accessible Transport. From the accessibility of automated transport and micromobility to accessible car design and national policy and regulation, Indigo focused on research projects that improve transport accessibility for disabled and older people.

Indigo is currently leading engagement with disabled people on a project aimed at improving information provision for disabled EV users wanting to charge their vehicles. Led by Steer for Transport for London, and in partnership with Tracsis, the project has involved conducting access audits of over 2,000 charge points across Greater London. Disabled people have been central in prioritising accessibility requirements and guiding the research team on how information about charge points can be effectively communicated.
