Chris Welch is the Managing Director of the Welch Group, a fourth-generation family-run logistics business leading the way in sustainable transport. Chris began his career hands-on—driving trucks, loading trailers, and learning the industry from the ground up. He went on to gain wider supply chain experience with major operators like DHL, where his passion for logistics truly took hold.

Now at the helm of Welch’s, Chris blends commercial sharpness with a hands-on approach to innovation and decarbonisation. From pioneering electric HGV adoption to helping shape industry-wide sustainability trials like ZEHID, he leads one of the few SME operators proving that a net zero future is achievable—without losing sight of the family values that define the sector.

Chris is a recognised voice in the logistics industry, known for translating big-picture decarbonisation goals into practical, scalable action. He loves a first; first HGV accessible super charger in Jan 2023, first Renault eTech 42t in operation in the UK last October, first Renault e-service dealer to be fully approved to work on all size of BEVs and this passion comes through when he speaks on the topic.
